A Brief History of Danny DelRay
Born Daniel Heise in Hoboken, NJ on February 18th, 1957 and adopted by Herbert and Rita Heise. He was raised in Northern New Jersey. Even though Rita and Herb had no musical talents, Danny shined musically from the day he was born. He loved to mimic singers he heard on his 45’s like Louis Armstrong, Tony Bennett, and Dean Martin. In kindergarten, he played piano by ear, copying his teacher just after she played for the kids. At a tender 11 years old he became the youngest church organist to play for his church, St. Anne’s in East Paterson, NJ. Parishioners would come just to see and hear him, and even a priest from nearby Saddle Brook’s St. Phillips asked him to perform there too. He later went on to win many contests and awards, including the regional competition in the Yamaha International Organ Festival in 1976. He started performing professionally for larger shows and local venues all over New York and New Jersey at just 15 years old — and has been in the business for over 50 years.

His specialty is the Great American Songbook — the timeless catalog of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Tony Bennett, and the great composers of the mid-20th century. Danny’s signature show, The Sinatra Connection, is more than a tribute act — it’s a full evening of theatre. Every Tuesday night at Casa Calabria in Fort Lauderdale, Danny transforms the room into a 1960s supper club, working through Sinatra’s catalog with the kind of depth and authenticity that comes only from someone who truly loves the music. Formerly billed as “A Man and His Music,” the show has developed a devoted following of locals and visitors who return week after week.
